Our History

Yvonne Price Mckissic was the mother of 6 children and 23 grandchildren. As a child, Eboni Speight (Yvonne’s Heart founder) witnessed family, friends and strangers come in and out of Yvonne’s house for shelter, food, advice or a listening ear. She had a way of making you feel important, like you mattered. She didn’t want to see anyone go without. I often heard her say, “if I have, you have”. Her life was a living testament of the power of love and service to others. She loved to touch individual lives with her actions, not only her words. Some people think success is defined by what you have but Yvonne showed us that your life will be as rich as those you impact.

Yvonne’s legacy lives on through Yvonne’s Heart Inc. As we begin to lose our ancestors, we must ask ourselves the question “What legacy will our children build and leave?” Looking at the current state of our world, that question seems bleak. Our answer to that question is to give young ladies the tools they need to make quality choices, now that will positively impact society and create a legacy they can be proud of.

Our Mission

Yvonne’s Heart Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides knowledge and inspiration to young ladies and gentlemen ages 12-17 and young women ages 18-30 to reach their life’s goals and purpose. Our goal is to assist young ladies and men through challenging life transitions, including dealing with stressful changes at home or transitioning to different phases of adulthood by providing mentoring, life skills training, coaching, and eventually a transitional home that will house young people who have service needs.

Our vision is to empower, encourage, and enable the young ladies we serve to achieve higher education, stable housing, employment, and abuse-free relationships.  To programs help ladies believe that their dreams are possible! We show them the importance of serving others and becoming leaders in their communities.
